This will be a 6-week at-home course with 5 instructional weeks and one video conference week. Classes begin July 13.

As we all continue to Stay At Home, Ceramics Instructor Brendan Roddy will bring you into his home for this virtual clay course - Clay At Home! This course is designed to be asynchronous with 5 weekly instructional videos with step-by-step instructions to create hand-built pieces and other recommended videos for students to further their ideas and creativity. The projects are designed to be created with tools and items found inyour home and are suitable for beginners and advanced students. 

Join Brendan in his home studio one evening of this course for a virtual session as well - you can ask questions, get feedback, and just socialize during this time of social distancing. River Tree Arts will make arrangements for pick-up of clay and some materials, schedule drop-off times for firing, and schedule times for glazing, keeping social distancing recommendations, and health precautions in place. All necessary precautions will be taken to keep our students and faculty safe and healthy during this course and time we are away from River Tree Arts. 

River Tree Arts will provide: 25lbs of clay, string for cutting clay, plastic for storage, paintbrush, wooden block, and canvas to work on. 

What you'll need at home: old toothbrush if you have one, an old credit card or playing card if you have one, scissors if you have a pair, a piece of cardboard if you have some, paper or newspaper, a pencil or pen, a sponge, a bowl or water container, a fork, a spoon, a knife, and a variety of objects that you can use to create textures (optional).

-- Videos shared on Mondays at 6pm starting on Monday, July 13. New videos shared on 7/20, 7/27, 8/3 and 8/17. Videos shared via private YouTube channel. Brendan will be available via email during the duration of the 6-week program.

-- A live video streaming session on Monday 8/10 from 6pm - 8pm.
